About Us
Organizational background
Global Priorities began as an international, inter-religious campaign to reduce military spending worldwide, with gatherings in Geneva and New York that included The Lutheran World Federation, the World Council of Churches, Catholic and other religious groups, as well as humanitarian and civil society organizations. It has evolved, in part, into an international network of experts, religious leaders and NGO collaborators dedicated, through dialogue, to establish pathways to reduce and eliminate nuclear and eventually conventional arsenals to free resources to meet human needs. Prior to the onset of the pandemic, Global Priorities convened several meetings in Rome and, since the pandemic, has maintained momentum by convening numerous experts’ meetings via Zoom.
